Three Ways to Add Wellness to Your Daily Routine

With the New Year, you’re probably thinking about changes to make. Big changes can be good, but it’s the smaller, consistent habits that can make lasting positive impacts on our health and wellbeing.

Increase your water intake, while decreasing what’s in it. You’ve probably been told that you should drink more water, and that’s likely very true. It’s easy to grab a beverage that tastes great but is also packed with ingredients that you don’t need, and that your internal organs have to filter out. Or worse, it’s loaded with caffeine that leaves you dehydrated. If drinking plain water feels like work, try sparkling water at first. Staying hydrated will help reduce muscle aches, ease brain fog, and improve your overall health by helping your body function better.

Exercise daily. If exercise isn’t already part of your regular routine, start with a walk around the block. Even small amounts of moderate activity can make a positive impact on your overall health. It’s also a great way to reduce stress and clear your mind.

Focus on a regular sleep routine. This doesn’t mean going to bed at 8:00 pm every night if you’re a night person, or getting up at 6:00 am every day. Setting a routine when it comes to your sleep will make it more of a priority, and help you fall asleep faster and sleep better. You might also find that the consistency spreads to other areas of your life as well! Getting enough sleep reduces the impact of stress on your body and gives your body time to heal and recover.

Whatever changes that you decide to make can have positive and lasting effects on your overall health. You don’t need to start big, but start somewhere!
